Engine and Frame Common Torque Values REV 3 270
Proper bolt torquing - Clean the threads with a wire brush, lube the bolt using oil or a light grease on the threads as well as under the head of the bolt.  This will help ensure accurate torque on the threads and reduce a false reading caused by debris or excess friction. Tighten in a diagonal sequence or follow torque sequence in service manual.  Tighten in 3 steps to the lowest specified value.  For example, if the torque spec is 30-35 ft-lbs, tighten all bolts to 15, then 25, then 30.
